“So many beings, so many things one loves have filled the painter’s life, so many skies, lands, seas have entered us.”
I spent my working life in the business world although my interest and love of art goes back to my school days. I have been painting in my head for as long as I can remember and now free to actually paint, the influences from my childhood roaming through the Australian bush and now living on Sydney Harbour are evident.
The light and colours of the Australian landscape inspire most of my work. I am interested in capturing the feel of a place drawn from my response and memory, rather than a direct representation. I am striving for a painterly form of abstraction and feel my best work comes from memory when the work develops naturally, is spontaneous and all the elements somehow come together.
